In Elizabeth Gilbert’s wonderful book “Big Magic”, there’s a quote “Argue for your limitations and you get to keep them.”
This is so true. How many times have we limited ourselves because of some perceived inability or lack of talent?
I never thought I could paint, and if I had kept to that thought, I would not be writing this blog or creating my work. When I was a kid playing little league baseball, I convinced myself that I could not hit. I was a really good fielder but sucked at the plate. All because that was my self-conviction.
We all need to let go of self-imposed limitations and allow ourselves to try things, fail maybe, but see what new activities we might find that we enjoy and are good at.
